Christmas at Dokken Open-Air Museum

Welcome to the pre-Christmas season, filled with good old-fashioned Christmas spirit at Dokken Open-Air Museum!

Experience a feast for the senses on the opening day, November 29, with historic Christmas decorations, a family workshop, dancing around the Christmas tree to organ music, traditional crafts, music and theatre — and the herring town in gingerbread form!

Haugesund Husflidslag will offer activities, exhibitions of beautiful Christmas goods and a raffle. Cantus Vitale will create a festive atmosphere with beautiful choral singing and period dress. Haugesund Children and Youth Theatre will take you into the magic of Christmas.

The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday through December 20. Weekdays 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, weekends 12:00 PM–5:00 PM.

Come and see how homes were decorated at different times in history. Join the maid Thea on a theatrical walk as she prepares for Christmas.

Haugalanders of all ages are contributing to a wonderful, fragrant exhibition of the gingerbread town of Haugesund, in the cradle of the herring town.

Beautiful Christmas gifts can be purchased in the shop. The café serves Christmas cookies, baked goods and gløgg on weekends.
