The museum focuses on the history of the town and region.
Karmsund folkemuseum is Haugesund’s cultural history museum and has its main section in the center of Haugesund, in the city’s old dairy building. The museum has four permanent exhibitions. The two most recent are “From field to meal- Farming”, about agriculture from 1650-1900, and “The town that went ashore”, an anniversary exhibition which was completed for Haugesund city’s 150th anniversary in 2004. The oldest exhibitions are “Shipping and fishing” and “Home and local environment ”. The museum also presents yearly changing exhibitions.
Children will enjoy visiting the play corner, or go treasure hunting. There is a small museum shop and a café.
